There are three levels of EV charging systems: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 / DC Fast Chargers (DCFC). Level 1 chargers are fit for residential use since they can be plugged into a standard household outlet, but they only deliver about 5 miles per hour of charging. Level 2 chargers require higher-voltage electrical service and provide about 40 miles per hour, making them ideal for commercial charging needs.
Level 3 / DCFC chargers require the most power and are the fastest chargers available — delivering upwards of 200 miles per charging hour.
