Fordham University Completes a Community Solar Project On Campus

Fordham University completed the latest in a series of solar projects designed to reduce their carbon footprint and give back to the New York community at large. The project, a 963-kW rooftop installation atop the Rose Hill Parking Garage, is designated as Community Solar, a program by which local residents within the same utility territory can subscribe to a portion of the renewable energy that the system produces for credit to their electricity bills. This program affords Fordham’s surrounding community of alumni, faculty, and students a unique opportunity to support a local clean energy project and benefit from electricity cost savings.

The installation, designed and developed by PowerFlex, a leading national provider of solar and solar-plus-storage solutions to commercial enterprises, is the third project the entities have worked on together. The community solar project follows two other innovative solar projects: a rooftop project on the Campbell Hall dormitory building and a large offsite solar installation on Staten Island.
